Sparky, the Wind Powered Electric Vehicle!

Welcome to the website for Sparky, a Wind Powered (via Bullfrog Power) Battery Electric Vehicle!

Owned and operated by the Poulsen/Gourley family of Kanata (Ottawa), Ontario.
Phone (613) 271-0940, or at:    allan at sparkyev.ca   (Just trying to avoid getting on unwanted mailing lists...you can figure it out!)

"Sparky" is the name my family chose. Ontario license plate is "SPARKYEV" (No, it isn't Russian 8^). It stands for "SPARKY the Electric Vehicle".
"ELECTRUK" was the original plate by the original owner, Michael Anderson. Too bad the MTO wouldn't allow the plate to be transferred!

Some favourite EV Links
(from these, you can find many more links!):
Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa (EVCO) - this is our local EV enthusiasts club.
Electric Automobile Association (EAA) - the main club in the US.
Electric Vehicles UK
National Electric Drag Racing Association (NEDRA) - Oh yeah!
REV Consultants - Rick Lane's company that converted this vehicle.
"Tango" - Perhaps the ultimate commuter vehicle?! Way too cool!
Tesla Roadster - an electric sports car to dream for!
Twike - light, efficient, now that makes a lot of sense!
Bullfrog Power - I buy my green electricity from Bullfrog Power, which is 20% Wind and 80% "Eco-certified low-impact hydro". Since my truck uses about 20% of my electricity, and the house about 80%, then Sparky is Powered by the Wind, and my house is powered by the rain. The additional cost of Bullfrog Power over Ottawa Hydro is about $1/day extra, so buying green energy from Bullfrog Power is a lot cheaper on the wallet than putting up my own Solar Panels or small windmill which has high capital costs (and yes, I would still like to do this some day)! Incidentally, my house has also been "converted" to use a Ground Source Heat Pump instead of a natural gas furnace and A/C, and improved insulation, making it far more efficient and completely off of fossil fuels. This saves about $1000/year in overall utility bills, including no gas bill!
